Kevin joined the North Dakota Army National Guard in 1989. He served in the NG for about 2 years when he decided that he enjoyed military life and decided to go Active Army. His first duty assignment was Schofield Barracks, HI. He served there for 4 years when he reenlisted and PCS'd to Fort Campbell, KY where he met his wife and had his first son. After Fort Campbell, he PCS'd to Korea where he served for two years with is wife and where they welcomed their second son to the family. From there he headed on to Fort Riley, KS, where their third and final son was born. He received a phone call one day in June and was told to report to Fort Leonard Wood for Drill Sergeant School. He completed DSS and headed on to Fort Knox, KY where he served for 3 years on the trail. He is currently stationed at Fort Hood, TX with the 4th BCT, 1st Cavalry Division. During his time here, he has helped stand up the brigade (when it was still 4th BCT, 4th Infantry Division). He has deployed in support of Operation Iraq Freedom in 2005/2006 and is currently deployed to Iraq again in support of OIF 08-10. |
